The first Saturday every June is designated National Trails Day (NTD). On that day every year more than a million hikers, bikers, equestrians, and others take part in thousands of events nationwide in celebration of America's trails. These events include new trail dedications, workshops, educational exhibits, equestrian and mountain bike rides, rollerblading, trail maintenance, and hikes on America's favorite trails.

This year the Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council will be conducting a National Trails Days event at Peter Strauss Ranch. For this event, volunteers will be working to open up a new trail segment, which will eventually connect Peter Strauss Ranch with Malibu Creek State Park. This trail is named the "Malibou Lake Connector". We hope you can join us for this important event.

DIRECTIONS: Peter Strauss Ranch is located at 30000 Mulholland Highway. View map. To get there: take the 101 freeway; to the Kanan Road exit in Agoura Hills exit and head south; travel south on Kanan Road approximately 5 miles to the intersection with Troutdale Road and turn left; Take Troutdale Road approximately half a mile to the "T" intersection with Mulholland Highway. The entrance to Peter Strauss Ranch is directly across the highway. You will have to turn left and cross the small bridge, then right into the parking lot.

TIME: 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, 7 June 2008

BRING: LUNCHES, BEVERAGES, SNACKS AND WATER.
