ParkLINK Shuttle May Connect Calabasas This Summer
By Ed Stauss
March 25, 2006

Initiated on July 2, 2005, ParkLINK shuttle service averaged 100 riders per day during July and August, but ridership declined, as does park attendance, after Labor Day and through the winter months. Officials are considering a rerouting of the buses beginning in Summer 2006 to create a connection to MTA line 161 in Calabasas.

ParkLINK operated special shuttles on 25 March between Will Rogers State Beach and the reopened Will Rogers Home at Will Rogers State Historic Site. More special shuttles are planned on 5 May in conjunction with the State Parks Trails Conference.

Regular ParkLINK schedules serve 10 stops in the SMMNRA on weekends and holidays using 20-passenger buses capable of accepting wheelchairs and recreational gear such as backpacks, bicycles, boogie boards, and picnic baskets. Buses operate hourly, weekends and holidays all year, both clockwise and counter-clockwise on a loop consisting of Mulholland, Malibu Canyon, PCH, and Kanan roads.
