In the first half of 2022, the Trails Council (led by Jerry Mitcham and Jon Sheldon) partnered with State Parks to assess and improve the trail signage in Pt. Mugu State Park. This includes funding and installation of new signs plus the removal of obsolete signage. All new signs will have UV protection and be installed with tamper-resistant hardware.
The Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council (SMMTC) has put together a project to improve a select group of twelve BBT trailheads.
The Bent Arrow Trail was severely damaged by a mudslide in December. Water saturated the soil when a significant amount of rain fell in a short period of time. This caused a section of trail to slide down the slope.
