A group of thirteen volunteers assembled at the juncture of Serrano Canyon Rd. and Cotharin Rd. and truck pooled into the canyon, led by Jason Finlay of State Parks. We then parked and hiked in approximately 3/4 mile to the start of the work site. Jason and a few leaders did a minor reroute to the trail so it takes a more gentle path down. Work consisted of two parts - weed whipping the grass where the trail went down the hill and all the way to Serrano Canyon Trail (2 weed whips) The second part was brushing, removing a large dead oak across the trail (using our chainsaw), and tread work to avoid a large patch of poison oak. Hiked back to the trucks and left the canyon at about 2:30 p.m. 13 volunteers @ 6 hours = 78 hours Approximately 0.5 mile of trail was cleared and groomed by the second group and probably at least 0.5 mile of weed whipping to get to the Serrano Canyon trail end.
